Noise Ratio
I am stopping to smell the roses and evaluate social media in my personal life. I am a massive and long time fan of the Internet and its social corners. I've been playing around on such networks before the term blog was even a thought. I've made many a friend along the way and learned a tremendous volume. The Internet has helped me to shape my adult life and career; its value to me is easy to see.
So why take a time out?
The Internet and social networks have changed and grown... and most importantly they have changed because they have grown. This growth has greatly altered the signal-to-noise ratio. In my attempt to find the value of social media, I discovered that I really just want to find my value to social media. I don't want to be part of the noise... I want to be part of the signal.

I understand where you are coming from but, I must disaggree. To say you want tbe a part of the signal and not the noise is like a car maker saying i want to make a better car, but i dont drive, i just watch. Many of us have been there from start as well and we have all gone through the "i dont need social media" phase, but common merc... SM is the norm now, and the "noise" is only going to get louder. Dont worry about how loud it gets, just make it worth listening to.
I don't understand how removing yourself from the stream increases your signal? I look at twitter like a radio playing in the background. A lot of the time I don't even notice it's on, but if it wasn't on, I'd miss out on a lot of cool music that manages to catch my attention. And I hope I can occasionally provide the cool music to others. I know that I often enjoyed the music you provided, and I miss it and hope you choose to return.
I miss you every day Merc! And it's not noise. somehow you helped me feel like part of the fullerton community... and now the soul is missing.
