Annual Family Reunion

Drove up to El Capitan State Beach for the annual family beach party. It was a new location and a new vibe.

Typically the party is somewhere in south Orange County. The family "voted" to have it somewhere more "exotic" this year so we ended up about a half-hour north of Santa Barbara. I wasn't thrilled about the drive, but the location was well worth it. It was far less crowded and much cleaner. The sand area was small and there was a great BBQ area that was nearly inches from the water.

The weather was absolutely amazing with a high of 71 and partly cloudy. By far the best weather we've ever had for the party.

I was a bit bummed that the party shrank from nearly 40 people to 4 people. I know gas isn't cheap, but it was crazy for most the family to back out... a bit disappointing. The vibe was pretty rockin' though. With the smaller group, the conversation were a lot deeper, everything stayed on schedule and decisions were easy.
