Slowly
I am slowly getting better; this cold is hanging on for dear life.

I just hate being sick. Sleeping is good, but a total waste of time.
I have reached over 3,000 images taken by my trusty Canon PowerShot S400 Digital Elph. It doesn't feel like I have shot half that many, but I guess this camera has been halfway around the world with me.
Learned a new game tonight called Mexican Train. It is a nice simple game that becomes more fun the more you play... and the later it gets. It uses dominos... and ones with more dots than I have ever seen.
Ong and I found a new little restaurant that gives our favorite PF Chang's a good run for its money. Ziing 's is located in downtown Fullerton, so it is close to home. It not only had great food, but it also has "Fullerton's best dessert", which is replacing Cafe Tu Tu Tango's dessert as our favorite.
Downtown Fullerton is turning into quite a hotspot.
I should be doing something, but now I can't really remember. Oh well.
I am laying off the caffeine for a while... maybe a week or two. I noticed that I was becoming a little too dependent on the stuff, so time to break the habit. In the meantime, I am going to bed at a record breaking early hour.
Today was a wonderful and magical day where I got not one, but two, new computers. I am now the VERY proud owner of a Mac Mini and the fairly proud owner of a Dell Latitude 610.
Today is good.
My first day as a Creative Director was challenging and fun. There is a lot to catch up on and a lot that needs to be set-up. There is currently no system or method in place for the creative department... since it did not previously exist.
I am still waiting on my laptop, so it is a rough start. If Fedex works as it should, this issue should be resolved tomorrow. I can only cross my fingers and hope.
Back in town now. I was away this weekend playing my role as wedding photographer for a friend's wedding. It was great and it was fun, and I am SO tired. It takes a lot out of a person to be that stressed and be standing for that long. I really think that I walked a million miles... and a half.
It is official; Merc has a new job.
Sometimes you just don't have enough to do it... and then you just get what you get. Painful, but unavoidable. All you can do is try... hard.
I typed over 20,000 words and 10,000 lines of code in a 7 hour period. I genuinely thought my eyes were going to bleed.
Servers are back online and better than before. We are running a new operating system and new versions of all our applications. Security is set even higher; and the structure is much improved.
We only have one little PHP setting that is causing any fuss... which I think is really good considering how much changed today.
Dom is a Linux god. All hail Dom.
It was a mild hack, but it was a hack. My primary server was hacked through a hole in the version of Apache we were running.
We have pulled the machine down; and we are currently installing a new operating system. If all goes well, we will have a more secure and fully restored box back online by the end of today.
Huge thanks to Dom for all his help!
Got to hang out with my family for most the day. We mainly did a lot of eating... which is what we do best. It was fun times. They are off to a mini vacation, so I hope they have fun.
Hung out last night with our new friends. We... well, I... stuffed myself at Luigi's; and then we jotted off to Disneyland for a ride on Pirates and the Haunted Mansion. We also got to catch the tail end of Fantasmic, which is pretty cool.
All-in-all a good night. Per usual, my big issue is just that I am so damn tired.
I went to a miniature expo at the school where my wife teaches. All of her students created a little booth to display their best work. It was amazing to see that most of them tried harder on their booth than they did on any of their projects. You can tell that they put a lot of effort and soul into their booths.
It would have been an amazing difference had they put the same effort into every project. And I just can't figure out why the difference in interest between the different projects. I am baffled.
I am feeling so very heavy this morning. I had to drag myself into the shower; and then drag myself out. All I can do is hope the coffee kicks in soon... cause I wouldn't want to drive on the freeway like this.
It looks like we have found a winner in the job hunt. Official details to surface next week.
I was happy when I got four interviews in one week. What am I now that I received three job offers in one day? Happy just isn't quite enough to say it.
It seems it is all or nothing with the interviews. Last week there was barely a whisper, and this week I have 4 interviews.
Also this week, it appears that I am getting a head cold. It hit me last night at around 10. Strangest thing.
Yes, yes. I have been out taking care of "real life" issues and goals; my blog has not been forgotten. I am planning and preparing a few projects that I am really excited about - most of which will not surface for a few months.
Anyone who knows me well... has seen me toting my best friend around; I typically have one of those ugly composition books with me. I am a sketch-aholic; and have the personal theory that if a graphic designer is not armed with an ink pen at all time... well, he just ain't a graphic designer.
In honor of the new month of March and the fact that I filled my last notebook up, I have a nice new and empty notebook. It is my RAM, address book, journal, idea playground, and art capture unit. I get this spike in productivity both in the early pages and the last couple pages... so this is a feel good moment. It is also the time when I look through the old notebook, reflect, steal my own ideas, and note any uncompleted items.
Blank pages are calling to be filled.
I just placed my order for the foxy little Mac Mini. I am going to be doing a lot of Mac-based freelance work, so it was time to buy a modern Apple box... and why not a little one, huh? It should be here in about 3 weeks or so... you know a review will be coming then.
