Always Alone

I think it is amazing that a person can still find a place to be alone in Southern California.

I was able to sneak off during lunch and be alone. It was great; I ate in the middle of the park; and then skateboarded for a bit before going to back to work. It was nice a peaceful.

Raking The Past

On this past New Year's Day, Ong and I made lists of the things that we were going to get done this year. Over the past few days, we have been reviewing and talking about the lists. I believe very strongly in writing down goals... and more importantly, doing something to accomplish them.

These talks that Ong and I have been going through have been really helpful in deciding how we are going to make some of these "things" possible. The year is already a quarter of the way through... and my list is not, but I feel confident that the list will be completed before the end of the year.

Like A Razor

I pulled the Razor scooter out of the trunk for a nice little two-block cruise. It was a fun and refreshing ride, even if it was for work. I had to pick up a projector that was left at the "corporate hotel".

When I got there the security guy wanted to see identification. I could not really blame him; I did roll into the lobby on a scooter, and I can't recall the last time that I shaved.

Another wonderful event of the day, my new Threadless t-shirt showed up today. Take a close look, it is not what you think. Hopefully, my other shirt will show up tomorrow.

Some Daze

The day seemed to breeze by. It is amazing the difference that a jump down to a nine hour work day makes. I am getting home before dark... and I actually had some time after dinner to relax and talk with my wife.

Working hard is a good habit, working too hard will kill you.

Happy Birthday, Heather

Happy birthday to my friend, Heather, who is now 25 + 2. If you ask her, she will leave off the + 2.

Balboa

OMG and I went to Balboa for lunch today. It is such a cute little place. We walked around for a bit and enjoyed the wonderful weather... And just had a relaxing time.

Later, we took the ferry across the bay to meet up with Ben for a little game of Boca. I lost miserably, but still had a great time.

The End Has Come

The stressful week has ended; and for the most part, it has ended with success.

March 25, 2004

Just About There

The promo project that I have been working on has just about failed in every way. Things are not here; pieces are incorrect... and we are out of time.

The only hope that I have is that the end of the week is near.

March 24, 2004

Still Kickin'

I have made it to the middle of the week and I am still alive.... which I am shocked about. At this point, I guess I have no choice but to survive the rest of the week.

March 23, 2004

Pushing Through

Tomorrow is the middle of the week and I am just going to keep my head down and push through the week. It is a tough one.

My question below is forcing me to do a little research. I got a lot more answers than I was expecting... and they are all different.

March 22, 2004

They Call It Stormy Monday

But Tuesday is just as bad.

Name that tune, and win some Merc points. I have survived a long and busy Monday. I have a bit more hope that the blues song that I quoted; but I am well aware that it is going to be a busy week ahead. Mentally, I think I am ready.

March 21, 2004

Beach Bocce

Played Bocce on the beach for the first time. It is a lot harder than playing on grass. The ball gets zero roll... and just walking back and forth takes more effort.

March 20, 2004

One More

The struggle to get out of bed on a Saturday. I just keep thinking one more minute and then I will be ready, but sooner or later I have to get up. My mind starts turning and I just can't waste another second.

The Joy Of

There is a special joy about Fridays... you can just feel it in the air and see it on everyone's faces.

March 18, 2004

Brutal

It was another long and brutal day in the office. I am just happy to have survived.

March 17, 2004

Write and Write More

Documenting things is a long, long process. I made it out of the office early today... at 6p.

March 16, 2004

Slow. But Healthy

I am still moving a little slow, but I am feeling pretty healthy. This has actually been a fast recovery... for once.

March 15, 2004

Requirements

All my years in school, I complained and complained about writing stuff. Turns out that when you grow up, you have to write stuff. It is still not fun, but now you get paid for it.

I find myself now learning how to write a software requirements document. The main challenge is stepping back from thinking about how to create a solution; and simply, thinking about what the solution is going to do. It is actually more challenging to write in more simple context.

Stupid Body

I woke up hurling this morning. I just feel like I am sick too much; and I am really getting sick of that.

I just want to be healthy. Is that asking too much?

March 13, 2004

Lucky Strike

Last night, Todd and I went out to the Block at Orange and did a little bowling. My first game was just embarrassing. My mind just was not on the game; it was still stuck in the stresses of work. By the time we got to the second game, I was doing just about my average... and nearly beat Todd (I think he won by 5 points). Afterwards, we walked around and stopped into the Van's skate park for awhile. It reminded me of how bad I miss skating; and how I really wish that I had someone to skate with.

We came back to the house, so I could get my butt kicked in Bocce. I have never played in the dark, so I am using that as my excuse.

After that we decided to watch 28 Days Later, which turned out to be a bad idea. It is the slowest moving movie that I have ever seen. The plot was pretty thin, and the ending left a lot to be desired.

It was a great night out; it was good to get away from thinking about work and spend some time with a good friend.

March 12, 2004

Rapid Development

Started reading my new book about rapid software development and project management last night. It is a very good book that is very well written. The subject sounds very boring; however, the author keeps it interesting. The information is also very helpful; I can see that I am going to be quoting this book a lot.

March 11, 2004

Three Eleven Day

All that I thought about today was Manda and how she would get a kick out of 3-11. Scary, but true.

March 10, 2004

Back At Half Force

I am back in the office today, not a hundred percent health, but I will make it through the day.

March 09, 2004

Sleep

I am home sick today. The combination of long hours at work, stress, and lack of sleep have finally got to me.

I am feeling better already; I just have that spacey feeling.

March 08, 2004

The Longest Day

Today could not have felt any longer; I did not feel so hot when I got to work... and felt worse as the day went on.

After working a 12 hour day, I got to deal with a few more work related phone calls. It think I stumbled into bed around 10.30p... but it was all just a blur.

March 07, 2004

One

Today we are going to EV's birthday party. She turned one year old this week. It is reminding me of how fast time goes by.

March 06, 2004

Bocce Champion

I am the Bocce king. Ong, Lucy, Ong's Grandpa and I all played two challenging rounds of Bocce. My team, Lucy and me, won both games... barely. We only won by 2 points each game, which is the minimum that you can win by. Games are so much more fun to play and to watch when they are close.

March 05, 2004

Tax Joy

Ong and I went to get our taxes done today. This is the first year that we have done it with our business, and it paid off. After having to pay 1,100 last year, I am very happy to be getting refund this year.

March 04, 2004

Not Likely

Could I be a little more tired?

March 03, 2004

14 Hours

Count them. These are the hours I worked today. I am so very busy at work. More projects than one can imagine.

March 02, 2004

The Flow

I sit down to blog and all I can think about is work; and no one wants to hear about that.
