Hotter Than...

I was going to say Tulare, but we were just there... and well, it is not. Tulare is hotter than a human should have to bear... and I think it is horribly sad that there are hotter places. Why would people choose to live in such hot and miserable places? Maybe I should just be happy that they all don't live here... but I would suggest Canada for some nice cool living. Yes, yes, everyone should move to Canada.

Show Biz Expo

Ong and I have been trying to go to this expo for about he past three years... and we finally went. It was good... a little smaller than I was thinking it would be, but still good. We only stayed for about an hour and a half on our way out of town. Just trying to get an idea of what it is like.

On Thursday night, we went to the AIGA Blender. It was great. It is always good to mingle with your own kind. Also got to see our friends' baby.

It is Monday; time for another crazy week.

Home Office

You must love the 'digital age'. Working from home has to be one of the greatest things. I wonder when it will be more normal to work from home than work from an office. Honestly, everything I have at the office... I have here at home. In fact, I have a better set-up at home.

And what is better than not having to get ready in the morning. Nearly 11a, and I have not even thought about getting ready. Oh happiness.

New Day

I am happy today... for no good reason. Not that I need one... I suppose.

The G Sprout

A new design is up at DZ's site. It is a transitional design into next phase of DZ's journal. He has returned home, so it will no longer be a travel log. Personally, I am hoping for the return of the rant.

It appears that Reacharound is getting a face lift... and a new URL. I am very interested to see what happens here... maybe I missed something, but I never saw the change coming.

Keep an eye on this site. Something new will be happening.

Regress

I have a few websites that I am going to be remodeling. And I always need a design warm up, so here it is. Something new, something simple, and something a little dark.

Bad Day

I am simply having a bad Monday. I totally missed a meeting this morning because I got stuck on the freeway. It is completely embarrassing to be late. There is not much more I hate than being late.

Living closer to work looks much more appealing on days like this.

On Fire

One burden of being a passionate person is willingness to burn a bridge or two for the sake of the cause. This can make you a protagonist or an antagonist... and it really doesn't matter what side of the river you camp on.

Laptop Blues

Laptops are great, but I have been working on them for the past few weeks... they lack the power and ease of use that a desktop has. The LCD screen is a bit easier on the eyes... but I miss the color of a good tube monitor. I am grateful to have a optical mouse hooked up as well... if I had to use the little touch pad or joystick all of the time, I just might have to find a new career.

Don't Worry Now

Don't worry now, don't worry now, don't worry cuz it's all under control. Don't worry now, don't worry now, don't worry cuz it will all turn around around around around around around around around...

Yes, this is me being a total dork. You no longer have to wonder what Merc looks like in Chicago. A little less punk; a little more dork.

How It Is

We all have our struggles. Some people fight their parents, some people fight society, some people fight to define themselves... everybody is fighting something in some way. This is just life. We are all fighting to have a happy, content, or less miserable life (at least nine out of ten humans anyway). Life is hard, unfair, and generally cruel, but it is the greatest thing anybody has ever had.

My advice: Enjoy the challenge. Life doesn't win until you're dead.

Saying What You Mean

I find that it is a lot more difficult to say what I mean than to mean what I say. I usually get my story straight by the third time I try. I speak in such harsh terms with little explanation. This is something that I need to work on. My good ideas won't get me too far if no one can understand what I am saying.

Looks like I might be traveling to Cerritos to meet with a business partner. Cerritos is closer to my home than work... should have saved some gas and driven straight there... oh well.

Run, Run, Run

I don't even recall sitting down this weekend. We were at the beach, the malls, and Disneyland all weekend... and I mean all weekend.

While attempted to show an Australian the whole for Southern California, I discovered a camera shop... quite possibly the best camera shop that I have ever seen. They have just about everything that I cannot afford, but still want. I bought a few new rolls of film... in some brand that I have been wanting to try - Ilford and Agfa. I will be shooting a bit more in the next few weeks... and I am happy about that.

I am really tired this morning... I think it is the gloom more than the lack of sleep. I am in a pretty good mood these days. With all the traveling, I get a lot of time to reflect and think. This has been a really nice change... my last job did not allow me the time to breathe... so thinking was out of the question.

I am content, but not. I am happy where I am, but I have my eye on the road ahead. I guess it would be best to say that I am content with the journey.

OC Livin'

I am back in the Orange. Chicago is a great city... no question about it, but it is no OC. Since I have been back... which is a whole day, I have fallen even further in love with Orange County and the whole Southland. There is no place in the world like it.

Count Down

The end is near for my stay in Chicago. The show is finishing up today at about noon, then I am off to a half day of training. Friday will be a full day of training... and then I get on a plane to my OC.

The past few days have been filled with many conversations about what the differences are between the United States and Australia. The conclusion is that I must learn a thing or two about cricket. It was explained to me that all other nations play the sport... so why not at least know something about it.

Broken Blogger

Just about every time that I have tried to write, Blogger has been broken. I must have the greatest timing in the world.

I am blogging from Chicago. It looks like another beautiful day... I guess I brought the California sunshine with me. If I just had my wife and the beach, I would not even know that I was away.

Day At

A day at the beach, at Disneyland, at the Spectrum.

The Same Old Different

It appears that you never really do anything different with your career... you just do the same thing with new people at a new company. I spent yesterday designing and doing prepress... and earlier in the week I was doing web design. Kind of shocking to discover this fact... but comforting as well. I am good at what I do.

Death In Numbers

I am attempting to start a new law. If you are a blonde female, you and/or your spouse makes over $100,000 annually, and your own a Lexus, BMW, or Mercedes... then you are no longer allowed to drive. Why? I would like to say that it is because you are too stupid... and you don't deserve to be alive... let alone drive with other humans.

But the truth is... some rich, blonde lady in a white Lexus just about killed me and a few other people on my drive home yesterday. If it was not for the great driving skills of the driver in the Bronco, I would without a doubt be a dead frog. The lady in the Lexus decided that I did not exist... and thus wanted to be in my lane. She came over slowly, so I inched over in the other lane... the guy next to me in the Bronco was kind enough to hug the wall to make room for me. The Lexus finally noticed me, but she was busy trying to figure out where I came from and why I was in her lane... she finally made the connection and allowed the Bronco and I to stop sharing a lane.

Merc for President.

Stuck In The Middle

The middle of the week, a time of confusion when you are not sure if you are still bitter about Monday or happy about Friday. Personally, I am happy about Friday. Last weekend was so fun, I cannot believe that it is nearly the weekend again. If I have half as much fun this weekend as last, it will still be a great weekend.

Not sure what I will be doing at work today... which is kinda nice. Nothing to dread.

Lookie!

I found Merc... and he is kicking butt. I forgot about this.

Read Between

Of the many hats I wear, I got to pretend that I was a programmer today. Six hours of straight JavaScript programming to make a little thing that spits out numbers. See for yourself.
